Account Opening Information

Client Services and Administrative Support Team

McIntyre, Freedman & Flynn has a well-qualified and experienced administrative support group. They can assist you in all aspects of administration for opening your account. We are not a mega-sized firm, and we have always prided ourselves on fast and efficient service with that friendly Cape Cod “family” touch.

Account Minimums

The minimum account size is $100,000.  Additional accounts on behalf of other family members may be opened for a minimum of $50,000.

Custodial and Brokerage Relationships

Schwab Institutional, who serves as custodian for McIntyre, Freedman & Flynn's individual accounts, holds all clients’ securities.  While we strongly recommend Schwab, we can use other custodians at a client’s request.  Schwab executes all of our trades, and we have negotiated a very low commission rate for our clients.  McIntyre, Freedman and Flynn’s authority is limited to placing buy and sell orders with Schwab Institutional.

Fees and Expenses

Our Company is a fee-based asset manager and receives no commissions based upon trading activity in your account.

  • Two percent per year on the first $200,000

  • One percent per year on amounts ranging from $200,000 to $500,000

  • One percent on the entire amount for accounts in excess of $500,000

  • Fees for accounts greater than one million dollars are negotiable.

Fees for all portfolios are paid in advance on a quarterly basis, and can be automatically deducted from your account.  For fee purposes, we will aggregate all accounts belonging to or controlled by the primary account owner.

Statements

Clients receive a confirmation of every transaction and a priced monthly statement from Schwab Institutional.  Updated account information is available online daily from Schwab. In addition, at the conclusion of each calendar quarter, McIntyre, Freedman  & Flynn will mail you a priced statement showing the performance of your account.  Schwab Institutional also provides all necessary information for complete income tax returns on an annual basis, with more detailed quarterly reports from McIntyre, Freedman and Flynn.

Account Closure

Opening an account at McIntyre, Freedman & Flynn requires no long-term commitment.  An account may be closed by sending a letter via U.S. mail or courier with the original signature of all account holders.  Prepaid fees will be pro-rated up to the date of receipt of the closing letter.  Accounts closing within 21 days of quarter end will receive a refund if requested in writing.

Insurance

Schwab Institutional is a member of the Security Investor Protection Corporation (SIPC).  Client assets under custody with Schwab are insured by SIPC up to $500,000.  Schwab provides additional account protection through Lloyds of London up to an aggregate of $600 million.  Account protection does not cover market fluctuations in the market value of securities.
